Michael Rimmer at the European Champs
Three from three - Rimmer has matched Ovett's consecutive three wins at the national championships

One of the most impressive sights at the recent Aviva Olympic Trials was Michael Rimmer storming down the home straight to take a third consecutive 800m title.

He became the first man to achieve this special hat-trick since Steve Ovett dominated the scene in 1974-76 - the third of his titles coming when he was only 20 years old.

Known as the "bad boy" of the famous rivalry with Seb Coe, he famously won the 800m Gold at the Moscow Olympics, and despite disappointment in losing the 1500m to Coe - broke the world record for that distance just days after the Olympics ended.
