David was a GB International, World record holder at 10,000m, World Cross Country Champion and Captain of the World Cross Country Team from 1969 to 1976. From 1976 to 1989 he was Secretary of the International Athletes Club.
Between 1984 and 1990 David served in various roles including Assistant Honorary Secretary for SCAAA, Council Member for BAAB, Head of Delegation for World Cross Country Championships and Director of London Marathon and Trustee of the London Marathon Charitable Trust.
David served as Honorary Secretary of the British Athletics Federation. He was a member of the BAF Medical Commission and involved in BAF Anti Doping. From 1985 until 1995 he served as Shaftesbury Barnet as Chairman and at the same time, was Middlesex Cross Country Team Manager.
