Dan Greaves
F44 discus World Record holder Dan Greaves recorded a new global indoor best in Vaxjo

12 March 2012

All eyes were on the IAAF World Indoor Championships in Istanbul internationally (all reports on uka.org.uk), and the McCain Inter Counties Cross Country and Challenge Final in Birmingham domestically, but there were some other notable performances.

Bath Half Marathon, March 11

Kenyans dominated the event up front, but there were some quality British performances in the women's race.

Susan Partridge (coach: John Montgomery) finished second in a PB of 71:34 - just 15 seconds down on winner Jane Muia - to go top of the McCain Power of Ten rankings.

Helen Davies (Clive Sparkes) went second in the UK rankings with her PB of 72:35 while Amy Whitehead ran 73:09 in fourth and Liz Yelling 73:14 in fifth.

Elle Baker (David Turnbull), who was in Britain's gold medal winning women’s team in the European Cross Country championships in December, ran her first 10km and she timed 32:44 to go top of the women's rankings.

World Indoor Throwing, Vaxjo, Sweden, March 10

Jade Nicholls (Andrew Neal) won the women’s discus with 58.97m which is unofficially a World indoor best.

Brett Morse (Self-coached) finished fifth in the men's discus with 59.14m, while in the same event but with the lighter 1.5kg implement, F44 World Record holder Dan Greaves – the three times World Champion – recorded a new indoor World Record of 57.56m.

"I've had such a great week training with the group out here and the Olympic champion, and it really paid off," said Greaves, who believes, with good reason, that he has a 60m plus throw in him.
