European Cup of Winter Throwing highlights

Goldie Sayers (Belgrave Harriers) threw an Olympic qualifying 63.65 in winning the Javelin at the European Cup of Winter Throwing in Split this weekend, whilst Eden Francis took an impressive U23 Discus title with a personal best performance.

 

Sayers, who managed three no-throws before hitting the mark with her fourth attempt, had one other throw of 58.53, in the competition.

 

Francis (Leicester Coritanian), won the discus competition in the U23 section with her third throw of 55.90, completing a busy weekend for the young throws talent where she also finished 5th in the shot in 15.29m.

 

Other Norwich Union GB results include: Emeka Udechuku (Woodford Green & Essex Ladies) Shot (B) 8th in 17.33m and Discus (A) 12th 57.47m; Andy Frost  (Woodford Green & Essex Ladies) Hammer (B) 4th 67.34m; Phillipa Roles (Swansea) Discus (A) 10th 55.45m; Zoe Derham (Birchfield) Hammer (B) 9th 60.64m.

U23: Laura Whittingham (Sale) Javelin 4th 50.65m; James Campbell (Cheltenham) Javelin 8th 65.21m.
