ENNIS NOMINATED FOR Sportswoman of the Year

Following a remarkable year of athletics for heptathlete Jessica Ennis, from injury in 2008 which resulted in a missed chance at an Olympic medal, to a gold medal at the World Championships in Berlin in 2009, the Sheffield born athlete has been deservedly shortlisted for the Sunday Time Sports Woman of the year awards.

After a phenomenal response from Sunday Times readers, a six-strong shortlist has been compiled, with Ennis coming up against athletes from cycling, swimming and cricket.

The closing date for voting is midnight on 27 October 2009. The outright winner will be announced at an awards lunch at the David Beckham Academy in London on Tuesday November 3.
