UK Anti Doping Announcement

03 September 2010

UK Anti-Doping has today confirmed that British hurdler Callum Priestley has been suspended from all competition for two years following an anti-doping rule violation. The period of ineligibility runs from 19 February 2010 and ends at midnight on 18 February 2012.

The athlete was charged by UK Anti-Doping following an out-of-competition test in South Africa on 19th January 2010.  A prohibited substance (Clenbuterol) was found to be present in a urine sample provided. The full written decision can be found on the UK Anti-Doping website at www.ukad.org.uk/violations/

UK Anti-Doping Chief Executive Andy Parkinson said:  “One of the important aspects of the Callum Priestley case is that he was tested off season, out-of-competition, and indeed outside of the UK. This is in keeping with UK Anti-Doping’s focus on targeted, out-of-competition testing across all sports in their off season. This case should act as a warning to all athletes that there is no hiding place from their responsibilities, no matter where they are, or whether they are competing”.
