UKA have announced the winners of the Race Walking Challenge within the ever popular 2011 McCain Challenge Series.
The McCain race Walking Challenge, which saw 50 athletes sign up to the seven event series, began in April at the Jeff Memorial Open Walk, Sheffield and finished in September at the McCain UKA Race Walking Challenge Final, London.
Finishing at the top of the table in the women’s field for the second year running was Olympic and World Championship athlete Jo Jackson (Coach: Andi Drake) from Redcar, with a 142 point improvement on her 2010 Challenge Series score.
Following Jackson’s 814 point lead was Julie Drake of Brighton & Hove in second place with 285 points and finishing in third place was Medway & Maidstone’s Rebbeca Collins U23 (Douglas Hopkins) with 87 points.
In the men’s event Tom Bosworth U23 (Andi Drake) of Tonbridge took the top spot with 599 points, followed by brothers Dominic King and Daniel King from Colchester Harriers with 458 and 452 points respectively.
Winners Jackson and Bosworth received £250 winner’s cheque for their top performances, while second and third placers took home £150 and £100.
