Peter has been a member of the IAAF Race Walking Committee since 1976 (the longest serving member of any IAAF Committee) and is also Chairman of the IAAF Sub-Committee’s Rules & Officials. Peter is also the Chairman of the EAA Walking Commission.

A British International walker, he competed in the 1972 Olympic Games and was also the British 10k and 20k Champion in 1974. Before the end of his international career, Peter moved into administration as Secretary of the British Race Walking Association. He was also the Meeting Director of both the 1977 IAAF World Cup at Milton Keynes and the 1987 World Cup in Douglas, Isle of Man.

He has been Chief Judge at Olympic Games (1992), World Championships (1991, 1993 and 1999), European Championships (1994, 1998 and 2002), Commonwealth Games (1986, 1994 and 1998) as well as IAAF World Walking Cup events. Appointed as Chief Walking Judge 2003 World Championships in Paris and Olympic Games 2004 in Athens.

As Technical Delegate, Peter has attended the Commonwealth Games (1986, 1994, 1998 and 2002), European Championships (1994, 1998) World Walking Cup (1995, 1997).

He is the author of the IAAF ‘Hints for Judges’ handbook.

Peter Marlow has served Race Walking for most of his life and is a highly respected international administrator and Chief Judge. He has been a very active and enthusiastic member of the Committee and UK Athletics is proud to nominate him once again for re-election to the IAAF Race Walking Committee.
