British Athletics’ ClubConnect initiative has the objective of recognising and rewarding the significant contributions made by clubs in supporting athletes through all levels of their athletics journey. The initiative has gone from strength to strength since being launched in January 2014 and plans to continue growing! Clubs are the foundation of the athletics pyramid, British Athletics recognises this and will be using our global award winning major events to showcase clubs and age group athletes in different formats.
Launched in January 2014 to coincide with the indoor season, a number of local Scottish clubs took part in medley relays at the Glasgow International Match, infront of 5,000 spectators at the Emirates Arena. The campaign went from strength to strength throughout the rest of the 2014 season, as the first event ClubConnect champions were crowned.
Don’t forget to visit the ClubConnect stand which features in our spectator village at each of our events!
Currently the ClubConnect competition is in two forms; elite athletes collecting points for their club throughout the British Championships competition with the chance of winning £500 for their club, and the U13-U20 club relays where each team has the chance to win £250 for their club.
