Volunteering England Launch ‘Good Practice Bank’ – 04 Jun 07

Volunteering England, the agency tasked with developing volunteering and volunteer management throughout England, have announced the launch of the sport section of their ‘Good Practice Bank’.

Devoted to helping clubs and other organisations to manage volunteers, there is a wealth of information on the site, including top tips, news articles and useful documents.

Volunteer ‘Blog’ Goes Live – 29 May 07

As part of Volunteers’ Week (1st – 7th June), Sport England have launched a new blog to get people’s views on sports volunteering. They want to find out what makes people do it? What do they enjoy about it? What’s the best – and worst – things about being a sports volunteer?

If you are interested in contributing to the blog, or, just want to hear what other people think about volunteering, why not log on to the Sport England volunteering blog.

 

‘Hands Up! For Sports Volunteering’ Conference – 28 May 07

Sports Volunteering North West, an organisation tasked with representing volunteers and the voluntary sector in sport and physical activity in the North West is hosting a conference to provide volunteers and volunteer coordinators with the latest information on the key volunteering issues and help them to develop action plans to improve and extend the impact that volunteers have within their sport.

Speakers from major national volunteering organisations will be joined by regional volunteers leading on good practice and a wide range of organisations offering support to sports volunteers. The event will be held at City of Manchester Stadium on Saturday 9th June. More information is available from the Sports Volunteering NW website.

Volunteers’ Week: June 1st : June 7th – 27 May 07

Volunteers’ Week is a series of events organised by Volunteering England to celebrate the contribution of volunteers, both within and outside of sport. As part of this week, there are a number of resources available to help recognise and reward volunteers, which may be of use to clubs, visit the Volunteering England website for further details.

UKA Volunteer Web Pages – 01 May 07

UK Athletics have today (1st May), launched the new Volunteers section of the UK Athletics website

This section will aim to provide information for volunteers, clubs and other interested individuals. Over time, a number of resources will be developed, to ensure that the experience of volunteering in athletics is as positive as possible.
