UK Athletics places a great importance on health and safety of all those involved in the sport of athletics, and to demonstrate this commitment has established a new UK wide Safety Advisory Group (SAG).

The SAG, which is made up of a representative from each Home Country Athletics Federation (England Athletics, Scottish Athletics, Athletics Northern Ireland and Welsh Athletics) alongside qualified and experienced Health & Safety practitioners, covers every discipline of the sport and aims to provide clear guidance and support to all those involved in the management and delivery of athletics events and activity.

Our ambitions are:

  1. Develop and implement a common safety framework covering all disciples of the sport

  2. Ensure we provide our stakeholders with a clear understanding of their roles and responsibilities in relation to safety and provide succinct, appropriate guidance to support them in delivering athletics events and activities

  3. Develop clear channels of communication with key stakeholders that facilitates effective consultation, engagement and implementation

  4. Aspire to continuous improvement and best practice in everything we do

  5. Have external bodies recognise UKA/HCAFs as custodians of exemplar safety policy and delivery
