Members Council AGM

7 September 2009

UKA has this week contacted clubs, coaches and officials across the country to inform them of the approaching election process for the Vice President of the UK Members Council.

Former javelin ace Steve Backley OBE accepted the invitation of the Council members to take on the interim role as Vice President to fill the vacant post in February this year. He has confirmed his desire to continue in this role, supported by the current Council Members.

With Backley set to stand  for re-election for the AGM, notice has been sent to clubs, coaches and officials in the UK to enable them to propose a candidate to stand in opposition if they wish to.

If no other candidates wish to stand for appointment then Backley  will be declared elected without the need for a vote.  If more than one person is nominated there will be a Postal Ballot as set out in the Articles and in the Regulations, in which Affiliated Clubs, Coaches, Officials and any organisation representative of road runners recognised by the Board are entitled to vote.

For further information and details on how to propose a candidate, visit www.uka.org.uk/governance/uk-members-council/election-of-vice-president

The deadline for nominations is Friday 25 September 2009.
