Aviva 2011 Trials

While all the attention was on the Aviva London Grand Prix at Crystal Palace and the IAAF World Junior Championhips at Barcelona, there were some other notable performances by British athletes elsewhere.

Donnas, Italy, July 14

Kortrijk, Belgium, July 14

Nathan Woodward (Nick Dakin) won the 400m hurdles in 49.77.

Sotteville-les-Rouen, France, July 10

Holly Bleasdale (Julien Raffalli-Ebezant) pushed the world's greatest ever women's pole vaulter Yelena Isinbaeva all the way. A first time clearance at 4.70m put the Briton ahead as the Russian failed her first attempt but a 4.75m clearance by the double Olympic champion gave her a narrow victory victory over Bleasdale.

Midland U20/u17/U15 Championships, Leicester, July 14/15

In the men's Under-20 hammer Craig Murch (John Pearson)  set a PB of 68.11m to go fifth in the McCain Powerof Ten rankings.

New British Under 15 record holder Owin Sinclair (Phillip Evans) won the 100m in 11.12/0.8.

Northern Under 20/U17/U15 Championships, Hull, July 14/15

Aviva ESAA 200m champion Thomas Somers (Geoffrey Barraclough) won the U17 200m in 21.75/0.1. Second placed Elliott Hurley (Matt Barton) ran a PB of 21.79 to go third in the McCain Power of Ten Under-17 rankings.

ESAA bronze medallist in the long jump, Jacob Fincham-Davies (Matt Barton) ran his first 400m hurdlesd and timed 55.48 to go sixth in the UK rankings.
