In the busiest weekend of the year for cross-country runners with the county championships, and the Edinburgh international, there were some notable performances on the track.

England Combined Events Championships, Sheffield, January 5/6 

In winning the Under-20 event, exciting talent Morgan Lake (Head coach: Eldon Lake) set a UK indoor age 15 record in the Pentathlon to beat Katarina Johnson-Thompson's mark.

She scored 3965 points with marks of 9.09 in the hurdles, 11.29m in the shot, 1.77m in the high jump, 5.96m in the long jump and 2:30.84 in the 800m.

Lake also broke the U20 championship record with her score.

BMC Open, Sheffield, January 6

Jack Crabtree (Neil Canham) broke the British indoor Under-17 3000m best with a time of 8:33.73. He finished 8th in a race won by British steeplechase international Rob Mullett (Dave Leach)  in 8:00.15
