Hello Dearest Readers,

I am currently writing to you from the athletes lounge in our World Championships camp on the Algarve in Portugal and it is here that I am really starting to realise that my dreams for 2009 have vanished. Sad times for me on a personal level, however I am proud member of the 4x100 squad and I hope we as a unit can really put a good performance out.

Our camp this year is on a beautiful golf resort and I have been spending most of my time chilling out with triple jumper Nathan Douglas or dancing around to house music with Perri Shakes-Drayton and looking at naked men with Montell Douglas in the sauna!!! (Only Joking)

It is crazy to see how one year in athletics can be so different from the next, this time last year I was preparing to run the fastest times of my life, now I am preparing solely for the relay. So it definitely makes a difference in terms of my mental approach to training and preparation. However, this situation can only make me stronger as an athlete and I promise next year, fitness willing, I am aiming to go and grab everything by the scruff of the neck. Grrrrrrrrr.

We leave for Berlin next week, so I am a little excited as the environment will be a little less relaxed and a bit more exciting as the athletes get ready to prepare. That’s the intense environment I prefer to be honest.

I will have a chance to observe a bit of the track and field, learn some more and I might try and do a little sweepstake at the world champs camp and earn some cheeky Euros!!

If anyone has any suggestions I promise I’ll split the winnings 50/50.
