Well, well, well…
What does an athlete who has had a nightmare season tell athletics fans about?
Should I moan about all the injuries that stalled my season, all the scans, injections, tears and tantrums??
Or…
Should I tell you that 2010 is all about the year of the comeback kid?
I’m thinking of sticking with the latter.
Every athlete in the world should be having a nice rest period, during September/October. However, I have been mixing that with spending time with friends and family and an intensive ‘prehabilitation’ to ensure nothing like this happens again.
So, I expect big things from 2010 after my year in limbo!
Leading up to to full training, I have a training squad who are like family to me, so every year we aim to do something together before we enter the terror dome of winter training.
This year we did a big squad weekend in one of my favourite cities, Manchester. Paintball, dinner and a good old shindig were just what the doctors ordered!!
I realised all my many hours of watching Jack Bauer fight terrorists in the show ‘24’ were completely necessary in fighting with Rikki Fifton and my coach, Michael Afilaka with the paintballs.
Michael was shockingly terrible at it and all of Rikkis ‘Rambo’ came to nothing.
Nonetheless, I’m sure Michael will get his own back when I’m dying on the floor from 300’s.
To sum it all up, I’m super excited about 2010 and I hope you guys are too.
Fingers crossed and flags at the ready. The comeback kid is on her way!!
