Appointment of National Event Coaches

UK Athletics is seeking to appoint National Event Coaches for each event area in order to deliver against the technical development of all events. Working within the Event Management Group, in close liaison with one of the three Senior Co-ordinators now in place and the Event Management Group Chair these positions will build on the established National Event Coach roles, but with a broader remit that aims to support event development across the UK.


Andy Paul, Head of Athletics Development, views these roles as key to the implementation of the National plan for each event. He said:


'We need a team of National Event Coaches that can drive their event forwards and upwards. The role will influence the future development of coaches as well as athletes and will support the direction of programmes in both Celtic nations and English regions as well as at a UK level.'


The roles will be key to supporting the emergence of athletes and coaches with World Class aspirations in the next 3 years, the events are as follows:

Sprints – 100m and 200m
Sprints - 400m
Sprint Hurdles 
400m Hurdles  
800m /1500m 
5K /10K / Cross Country
Race Walking
High Jump
Long Jump
Pole Vault
Triple Jump
Shot Putt
