UK Awards Dinner is a sell out

The UK Awards Dinner supported by Heidsieck & Co Monopole champagne promises to be a fantastic occasion with UK Award winners across 19 categories being announced on Saturday 25 November, including Track & Field Club of the Year, Junior Club of the Year, Performance Coach of the Year and Officiating Newcomer of the Year.

 

Current Great Britain and Northern Ireland team athletes that are attending the UK Awards Dinner include:

 

Commonwealth Champions Kelly Sotherton and Lisa Dobriskey, European Silver medallists Greg Rutherford and Nathan Douglas, former World Indoor Record holder Ashia Hansen, Commonwealth Bronze medallist Jessica Ennis, European Bronze medallist Rhys Williams, World Junior Bronze medallist Martyn Rooney and newly promoted World Class Podium funded Sam Ellis, following his Bronze medal winning run in Gothenburg.

 

Paralympic Gold medallists Stephen Miller and Daniel Greaves, Mickey Bushell, U16 World 100m and 200m Combined Sprint Champion and Beverley Jones, Gold medallist at the IPC World Championships in Assen will also be among the guests on Saturday evening.

 

At the Annual Congress of Athletics on Sunday, UK Athletics President Lynn Davies will give the opening address, before Dave Moorcroft talks about ‘Leaving a Challenge’ and Alan Harrison and Geoff Wightman talk about ‘Accepting the Challenge’. Other speakers include Jack Buckner, on the changing world of competition and Performance Director Dave Collins on current issues in Performance.

 

One of the highlights of the Congress will be the session entitled, ‘The once in a lifetime opportunity of London 2012’, hosted by Sybil Ruscoe, with Olympic medallists Steve Backley and Katharine Merry, to be joined by emerging stars Jessica Ennis and Rhys Williams.
