Performance Psychology

To purpose of performance psychology is to enable athletes to thrive in the performance arena.

Process:

  • Access to the British Athletics Performance Psychology Team.
  • Performance focused, proactive psychology that is coach driven and athlete centred.
  • Working in a collaboration with coaches and other support staff to design individualised interventions that are applicable in an athlete’s training and competition environment.
  • An informal and integrated approach to deliver individualised psychology support. To develop psychological skills and coping resources.
  • Where appropriate, referral on to clinical psychology or other medical services.
  • Adhering to the highest ethical standards.

Outcomes:

  • Optimise training and the training environment.
  • Optimise competition and performance.
  • Optimise mental robustness.
  • Autonomous athletes with the ability to excel within training demands and competitions.
