At the Notturno di Milano meeting in Italy on Wednesday, the GB athletes took five victories to give them some much needed confidence going into next weeks Olympic trials.

Martyn Rooney (Croydon) maintained his unbeaten form this season with a 400m win in 45.44, and was matched by Nicola Sanders (WSEH) with an impressive 50.88 victory in her one lap outing.

Simeon Williamson (Highgate) showed great form for a 100m win with 10.27, whilst there was excellent news in the middle distances. Michael Rimmer (Liverpool Pembroke & Sefton) proved his early season disappointments to be a blip with a more assured win in 1.46.10, and Jemma Simpson (Newquay) shot to the top of the Power of 10 rankings with the fastest time by a Brit this year for 800m – her 1.59.17 winning the women’s race comfortably.
