English National Road Relays, Sutton Park, Birmingham, April 5
There was a double title defence at Sutton Park as Leeds City AC won the men’s 12 stage, with Aldershot Farnham and District taking the women’s six stagecrown. the later by over two minutes.
Emelia Gorecka’s (coach: Mick Woods) 13:51 fastest leg over the 2.69 mile distance ensured Aldershot had a winning margin of over two minutes, their title defence never really in doubt. Gorecka’s final leg time of 13:51 was 12 seconds faster than Olympic 1500m finalist Laura Weightman (Steve Cram) who recorded the second fastest time of the day.
The men’s race saw a similar level of domination for the Yorkshire club who ran out winners by just over a minute from Morpeth Harriers. Andrew Butchart (Derek Easton) of fourth place club Central and Cardiff’s Ieuan Thomas (James Thie) shared the spoils of fastest long leg, covering the 8.1km in 24.20 Niall Brooks (Norman Poole) recorded the fastest short leg of 12:39 for the 2.69 miles.

Stanford Invitational, USA, April 4/5
Elinor Kirk (Tony Houchin) made a spectacular 10,000m debut to finish second in 32:17.05 to go top of the Power of Ten 10,000m rankings. It is also a Welsh qualifying standard for the Commonwealth Games.
In the men’s race Andrew Lemoncello went top of the men’s 10,000m rankings with a 28:42.68 clocking. Scottish cross-country champion Callum Hawkins (Robert Hawkins) was just under seven seconds behind with a 28:49.57 personal best, whilst Adam Bitchell (James Thie) also set a personal best of 28:50.43 to also obtain a Welsh Commonwealth Games qualifier.
In the women’s 5000m, Kate Avery (Tony Simmons) clocked a 15:27.90 personal best to go top of the women’s 5000m rankings. She was closely followed by Katie Brough (Andy Carter) who goes second on the rankings thanks to a 15:29.94 personal best.

Florida Relays, USA, April 5
Desiree Henry (Rana Reider) stormed to a 100m personal best, finishing second in 11.23/1.2 to go top of both the Power of Ten senior and junior women’s rankings. That time moves her past Kathy Cook to second on the all-time lists. Jodie Williams, who tops that junior all time list, was third in that race in 11.30, and she also finished second in the 200m in a promising 22.91/1.3, to go top of the UK rankings.
In the men’s 100m, James Ellington (Rana Reider) took victory in a personal best time of 10.16, putting him top of the men’s 100m rankings. Michael Bingham (George Williams) went top of the Power of Ten rankings for 400m with his third place clocking of 45.49.

Australian Championships, Albert Park, April 5
Former World champion Phillips Idowu (Gary Bourne) produced his best leap since before the London Olympics when he won in a wind-assisted 16.71/2.4.

RWA Championships, Sheffield, April 5
The race of the day was undoubtedly the junior women’s 10k, where Leeds City AC’s Ellie Dooley (Andi Drake) pulled away from Emma Achurch (Steve Arnold) in the closing stages for victory in 50.50, inside the British Athletics qualifying time for the IAAF World Race Walking Cup that will take place in China next month. That performance extends her lead at the top of the Power of 10.

Brighton Marathon and 10km, April 6
Ian Kimpton (Rob Lewis) and Rebecca Robinson were the leading British man and woman respectively, with Kimpton clocking a personal best 2.18.04 and Robinson a season’s best 2.37.41
Olympic 5000m runner Nick McCormick (Lindsay Dunn), who already tops the 10km men’s rankings won in 29:11 whilst Alyson Dixon (self-coached) followed up her great run in the IAAF World Half Marathon Championships with another personal best of 32:35 to win the women’s race and go top of the Power of Ten rankings for 2014.

Greater Manchester Marathon, April 6
It was third time lucky for local man Andi Jones, as he won his local marathon in a time of 2.16.55, inside both the British Athletics and Team England qualifying standards for the European Championships and Commonwealth Games respectively.
Emily Wicks (Keith Donkin) was first woman home, shaving almost a minute off her 2013 personal best thanks to a 2.38.21 performance.

Spar Great Ireland 10k, Dublin, April 6
IAAF World Indoor Championship 3000m finalist Andy Vernon (Nic Bideau) finished second in a time of 29:19, just a few seconds behind the IAAF World Cross Country Champion.
