USATF High Performance Distance Classic, Los Angeles, USA, May 15
Charlie Grice (coach: Jon Bigg) finished fourth in the 1500m in massive lifetime best of 3:36.31 in his first race of the outdoor season, to go top of the Power of Ten rankings and better the Europeran Championships standard of 3:37.50. He now returns to the British Athletics altitude camp at Park City, Utah for another block of training.
In the same race, Richard Peters (Mike Down) went third in the rankings with his time of 3:38.83.
Luke Gunn (Buldf Baldaro) won his steeplechase race in 8:35.44 to go second in the UK rankings, whilst Adelle Tracey (Craig Winrow) set yet another personal best in the women’s 800m and her time of 2:02.01 puts her fourth in the Power of Ten rankings.
In the women’s 1500m, fifth-placer Jemma Simpson (Mark Rowland) was within a second of her lifetime best with 4:07.37 and that’s the best outdoor mark this summer and puts her second overall in the rankings. Former world silver medallist Hannah England (Baldaro) was eighth in 4:07.82 to go second outdoors and third overall in the rankings.
Big 12 Outdoor Championships, Lubbock, USA. May 16
Nick Miller (John Baumann) added one centimetre to his six day old PB in the hammer when he won in 74.38m to improve his place at the top of the Power of Ten rankings.

Ponce Grand Prix, Puerto Rico, May 17
2014 World Indoor finalist William Sharman (Jerzy Maciukiewicz) finished second with a 13.44/-0.4m/s clocking.
Halle, Germany, May 17
Olympic finalist Sophie Hitchon (Tore Gustafson) finished fifth in the hammer in a European Championships qualifying 71.53m, which puts her at the top of the Power of Ten rankings.
Jersey Commonwealth Games hopeful Zane Duquemin (John Hillier) who heads the Power of Ten shot and discus rankings with his indoor marks, had his best outdoor throws of the year of 18.53m in the shot and 58.45m in the discus.
Jade Lally (Andrew Neal) also went top of the Women’s discus rankings with her 57.58m throw.

BMC Grand Prix, Watford, May 17
Kyle Langford (George Harrison) finished second in the 800m in a big personal best of 1:47.41, way inside the World Junior qualifying mark and also putting him top of the Power of ten under-20 rankings. European junior 1500m champion Jake Wightman (Geoff Wightman) was fourth in the same race, setting a PB of 1:47.93.
A week after winning the British 10,000m title at Highgate, Jo Pavey (Gavin Pavey) won the women’s 5000m, breaking the BMC record in the process. The double London Olympic finalist ran a gun to tape 15:11.52 to shatter the World Masters W40 record and go inside the British Athletics’ European Championships qualifying time of 15:15.0. Beth Potter (Mick Woods) held on to Pavey over the first half and though slowing, her 15:40.79 timing was inside the Scottish Commonwealth games qualifying mark.
The women’s 800m was won by Alison Leonard (Bud Baldaro) in 2:02.79, with second place finisher Katie Kirk (Mark Kirk) running a PB of 2:02.97 to dip inside the Northern Ireland Commonwealth Games qualifying time. European 800m champion Lynsey Sharp (Terrence Mahon) made her domestic return to win the B race in 2:03.90. In third place in that race Charlotte Cayton Smith (Peter Meredith) took two seconds off her PB with 2:05.73 to go second in the Power of Ten under-20 rankings.
In the 1500m, Tom Marshall (James Thie) won an exciting race in 3:41.60 after Olympic semi-finalist Ross Murray (Craig Winrow) built up a good lead but ended up fourth in 3:41.96. The women’s 1500m was also a close race, with Charlene Thomas (Aaron Thomas) and Melissa Courtney (Mark Pauley) going head to head, Thomas winning by eight-hundredths of a second in 4:14.08. Fifth in that race, Amy Griffiths (Mick Woods) set a PB and World Junior qualifying mark of 4:17.56 to go top of the Power of Ten under-20 rankings. In the B race, former National and Inter-Counties under-13 cross-country champion Katy-Ann McDonald (Phil Kissi) was second in a PB 4:27.14 to go top of the under 15 rankings and she was just over a second outside the UK age-13 record.

IAAF Diamond League, Shanghai, China, May 18
British athletes found the competition hard in the second Diamond League of the year. Former World Championships medallist Dwain Chambers (Rana Reider) finished seventh in the 100m in a season’s best 10.28, with Olympic pole vault fifth placer Steven Lewis (Dan Pfaff) eighth in the pole vault with 5.52m.
The pick of the bunch was perhaps former world champion Phillips Idowu (Gary Bourne), who continued his comeback with a sixth place finish in the triple jump with 16.47/0.0. British long jump record holder Shara Proctor (Reider) was ninth in 6.55/-0.1.

Bupa Great Manchester 10km, May 18
Finishing second to all-time great Tirunesh Dibaba, Gemma Steel (John Nuttall) went top of the Power of ten 10k rankings with her 32:10 clocking. Nick McCormick (Lindsay Dunn) who already tops the Power of Ten 10km rankings was the leading British male in sixth in 29:21.
