Athletics has once again been recognised in the Queen’s Birthday Honours announced this evening, and our congratulations go to Jeanette Kwakye who has been awarded an MBE for services to sport and sport broadcasting.

Kwakye, the 2008 Olympic 100m finalist and World Indoor 60m silver medallist has continued to work with the sport since her retirement in early 2014 and is now one of the BBC’s most respected sports broadcasters, often appearing trackside to interview GB & NI athletes after they compete.

Also recognised with an MBE is Leon Mann, founder of BCOMS – Black Collective of Media in Sport – whose members have previously helped with media activities at British Athletics events and are doing fantastic work in the Equality, Diversity and Inclusion space.
