About the Athletics Pride Network
The Athletics Pride Network (APN) was a development from the ‘Let’s Talk LGBTQ+’ workshop held in December 2019 at Loughborough, where UKA invited athletes, coaches, officials, UKA staff and Home Country representatives to come together to discuss and address the issues and concerns within the LGBTQ+ community in athletics.
Our Mission
The Athletics Pride Network aims to create a sport-wide community of LGBTQ+ people and allies from grassroots to elite level through effective communication, support and celebration.
The APN has three key objectives:
- Improve access to athletics for LGBTQ+ people.
- Be a support network for LGBTQ+ people and LGBTQ+ allies.
- Challenge homophobia, biphobia and transphobia in athletics.
