Day 3 – Morning Session

The only GB&NI action from a quiet morning was the men’s 4 x 400m relay. The team (Steve Green, Richard Buck, Dale Garland, Rob Tobin) finished in third place and qualified as fastest losers for this afternoon’s final.

All men ran strongly clocking a new season’s best of 3:08:21. Rob Tobin nearly took the team into second place and automatic qualification as he came very close to catching the Russians in second place on the home straight.

Tobin said: "I should have caught him in the home straight but I think I timed it a bit early to kick. Hopefully that should be enough but coming third could mean you get a bad lane draw in the final."

This afternoon Phillips Idowu (Belgrave Harriers) is tipped to medal in the triple jump and Jenny Meadows (Wigan AC) will feature in the 800m, with a real chance of getting a top three spot following her fantastic display in the semi-final yesterday. Mo Farah (Newham & Essex Beagles) also competes in the 3000m final.
