2026 London Cross Challenge Event Preview

The next instalment of the UK Athletics Cross Challenge series, sponsored by SportShoes.com, takes place this weekend at the iconic Parliament Hill, London. Following the opening event in Cardiff and the subsequent round in Liverpool, the series now moves to the capital. This fixture will also host the Home Countries & Celtic Countries International. It is the final race before the series concludes in Nottingham next month.

The day begins with the junior races, starting with the U11 Boys and Girls at 11:00am and 11:15am, before progressing through the U13, U15, U17 and U20 categories. The Senior Women’s race begins at 2:15pm, followed by the Senior Men’s race at 2:50pm.

England have announced their team for the Home Countries International. Their senior men’s squad includes Jenson Connell (Leeds City AC), who represented Great Britain at the European U23 Cross Country Championships in Lagoa at the end of 2025. Leading the women’s team is 2025 English National Champion and last year’s senior women’s individual winner, Jessica Gibbson (Reading AC).

Johnson Hughes (Rotherham Harriers & AC) has been selected for the Men’s Junior team following his appearance for the Novuna Great Britain & Northern Ireland team at the World Cross Country Championships in Florida last month. His World XC teammate Michael Clarke (City of Norwich), who finished 20th out in Florida, will also be competing individually in London.

For Scotland, Scout Adkin (Moorfoot Runners) will be one to watch as she arrives with the World No. 1 ranking from the 2025 Mountain Running World Cup. Logan Rees (Fife AC), last year’s Men’s individual Cross Challenge winner in Leeds, also features in the Scottish squad.

Northern Ireland bring a strong team featuring rising young talent and regional championship standouts, including Emer McKee (City of Lisburn AC), Tom Fleming (City of Lisburn AC) and Odhran McBrearty (Finn Valley AC).

Based on strong performances last year, the Home Countries International and the Celtic Countries International are shaping up to be exciting additions to the UK Athletics London Cross Challenge.
