Action In Shanghai

14 May 2016

Four Brits were in action at today’s Shanghai stage of the IAAF Diamond League.

Lorraine Ugen (Shawn Jackson), returned to the circuit after a breakthrough 2015 and fantastic World Indoors to finish 5th in her Diamond League of the season. Her 6.55m leap in the third round was enough to take fifth place.

In the discus, Jade Lally (Andrew Neal) competed in her first IAAF Diamond League overseas after an excellent start to her 2016 campaign. Following her 65.10m in February propelling her to fifth in the world standings, Lally finished 8th with a best effort of 58.51m.

2010 European 800m silver medallist Michael Rimmer (Jon Bigg) made his first outing outdoors over 800m in a stacked Diamond League field against the likes of Olympic and world gold medallist David Rudisha in a competitive field in Shanghai. He finished in 9th position in 1.47:44.

Finally, Dan Bramble (Frank Attoh), competed in the men’s long jump following a strong performance in Portland in the World Indoors in March. His opening leap of 7.75m was followed by a no jump and his third round leap of 7.54m meant he finished after three jumps in 8th place.
