Alan Bell To Continue

Alan Bell is to continue his duties over the coming years after recent IAAF selections were revealed.

It has been announced that the 62 year old is to act as Official Starter at a number of international competitions across the 2014 season.  He has been placed at the Nassau Relays, Youth Olympic Games in Nanjing, European Championships in Zurich and the Commonwealth Games in Glasgow. Bell will also start at the World Masters Championships, which take place in Lyon in 2015.

A former national-level high jumper, Bell turned to officiating following injury in his 20s. After progressing through events and gaining much domestic experience he was named as one of five members of the IAAF World Panel eight years ago.

He was awarded the title of Chief Starter during the 2012 Olympic and Paralympic Games, seeing him lead the way for a team of 10 start officials in London.

Bell took early retirement from his job with the Youth Sport Trust last year, where he worked full-time as an International Development Coordinator.
