AVIVA GB&NI COMBINED EVENTS TEAM
12 January 2011
In the first International team selection of the year, UKA today announced the Aviva GB&NI team which will travel to Reims, France to contest the Senior Combined Events International against teams from France, Spain, Germany, Czech Republic and the Netherlands on 29 -30 January 2011.
The eight- strong team includes seasoned combined event representatives Ed Dunford (coach:Ed Dunford Snr) and Richard Reeks (coach:Ian Grant). They are joined by David Feeney (coach:Emily Parker) who makes his senior international debut.
As first outings go, multi eventers Francis Baker (coach:Gareth Lease) and Lydia Chamberlin (n/a) couldn’t have asked for more after finishing first at the England Athletics U20/ Senior Combined Events Championships in Sheffield on 8 and 9 January. Both athletes received an early season national call up following that weekend outing and will no doubt use the experience to improve on their similar 12th place rankings for 2010.
Sophie Skinner (coach:Colin Bovell), Jess Taylor (coach: Christopher Bartram) and Jackie Tindal (coach:Sandy Robertson) make up the team’s offering.
Skinner, who finished top of the class for U23 heptathlon, remains in that age group for 2011 but will take the step up to senior competition. Taylor will make her senior GB&NI debut, along with Tindal.
