Aviva Trials And UK Championships

7 April 2008

The month of July will again see the staging of the Aviva Trials & UK Championships.  Unlike the other Championships that are held across the year, the procedure for the Senior Championships is that athletes are sent letters of invitation once they have achieved the qualification standards.  All standards must be achieved between 1st January 2007 – 6th July 2008.

In due course a full list of invitees will appear on this website; if you are not included in the listing and think you have qualified then please contact us.

Many athletes may have qualified for more than one event and if you wish to switch events then please communicate your request to Ian Hodge ian.hodge@fasttrackagency.com or Caroll Douglas caroll.douglas@fasttrackagency.com as soon as possible.

These Championships are the pinnacle of the domestic calendar and will give the opportunity to compete alongside so of the countries best athletes as well as good grounding for the future progression of an athlete.

Ideally we would prefer a minimum of twelve competitors in every field event. If qualified athletes decline their invitation and we need to increase numbers we will supplement the event with the next  athlete in the 2008 Power of Ten Rankings. To facilitate this efficiently athletes who are just outside qualification standard in advance of the final qualifying date on July 6 should make contact with the organisers to advise of their availability.

*Events that are staged at Birmingham on July 11th -13th as part of the UK Trials and Championships are restricted only to those athletes who are eligible to compete for Great Britain.

The Other trials; Marathon in London on  April 13, 10,000m races at Watford and St Mary’s, Combined events at Birmingham on May 31/June 1 will be open to both British and International athletes*

The list of athletes who have qualified will appear in mid April.
