BBC NOMINATION FOR SALLY BROWN

One of the rising stars in the athletics world has been nominated for the BBC’s Young Sports Personality of the Year Award 2011.

Disability athlete Sally Brown is amongst 10 contenders vying for the prestigious accolade.

The 16-year-old sprinter has had a memorable 2011, with the highlight being a bronze medal in the 200m T46 at the IPC World Championships in New Zealand on her senior debut for the Aviva Great Britain & Northern Ireland team.

Following her success in the Southern Hemisphere, the Springwell athlete celebrated further medal glory by winning gold and silver at the IWAS World Junior Championships.

The winner will be announced on Thursday 22 December live at the BBC Sports Personality of the Year Awards in Salford.
