Bekele And Dibaba Lead Ethiopia’s Strong Team For Edinburgh

14 March 2008

Edinburgh looks set to host not only the biggest World Cross Country Championships, but also one of the very best in quality.

It has been announced today that five-time double World cross country champion Kenenisa Bekele and two-time female long course champion Tirunesh Dibaba will lead Ethiopia’s strong team for the 36th IAAF World Cross Country Championships in Edinburgh, Scotland on 30 March.

The news is a fantastic coup for the LOC, with the championship shaping up to be one of the most memorable and successful on record.

Bekele and Dibaba will be hoping to heal the wounds of Ethiopia’s outing last year to Mombasa where their country was reduced to two individual medals and a single team title, one of its least successful showings in its twenty-seven-year competition history.
