Last month’s Müller AnniversaryGames (22-23 July) saw British Athletics join forces with Box4Kids to give 12 children the opportunity to enjoy a weekend of world class athletics at the Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park.

Established in 2010, Box4Kids, through collaboration with clubs, venues and companies, offers seriously ill and disabled children the opportunity to enjoy VIP experiences spanning across nine sports, whilst it also operates in major entertainment venues, including the Royal Albert Hall and the O2 Arena.

The nationwide initiative, a product of charity organisation the Barrie Wells trust, has benefitted over 3000 guests since its inception six years ago, with the charity itself solely funded by Barrie Wells.

The Müller Anniversary Games saw British Athletics allocate the trust with an in-stadium executive box for the weekend, with a number of top athletes taking the time to visit the box over the course of the weekend for photos and autographs, ensuring the children present left the event with some unforgettable memories.

Niels de Vos, Chief Executive of UK Athletics, was delighted to support the charity, and said:  “Box4Kids is a fantastic and worthy initiative, and British Athletics are delighted to add our name to the list of organisations who support its growth. To hear the feedback that the children and their families enjoyed the weekend was fantastic; we hope all of those in attendance came away from the Müller Anniversary Games with some great memories.”
