British Athletics To Offer 20% Off During Exclusive Ticket Sales Period For Affiliated Club Members

23 October 2014

British Athletics has announced that the affiliated athletics clubs across the sport will be able to benefit from an exclusive on sale period for all major events from the 2015 Sainsbury’s Indoor Season onwards.

Starting today, club members will have priority in purchasing tickets with a 20% discount ahead of general sale, giving the athletics community and core athletics fans the best possible chance to secure tickets for the traditionally sold-out series.

This offer comes as part of British Athletics’ Club:Connect campaign to reward and recognise the work of clubs. Club:Connect was launched in January and has been a great success, including showcasing club athletes participating in relay events across all age groups within the televised events series.

The 2015 indoor events will comprise of the Sainsbury’s International Match in Glasgow, date in late January or early February to be confirmed, the Sainsbury’s British Indoor Championships at the EIS in Sheffield on 14 and 15 February, followed by the world’s best indoor event, the Sainsbury’s Indoor Grand Prix at the new look Barclaycard Arena in Birmingham on Saturday 21 February.

General sale for the Sainsbury’s British Indoor Championships and Sainsbury’s Indoor Grand Prix commences on Thursday 6 November, but affiliated Home Country Federation club members will be given their chance to purchase tickets from Friday 24 October up until midnight on Wednesday 29 October. The exclusive pre-sale for previous ticket purchasers will then take place, with general sale commencing on Thursday 6 November.

On sale dates including any special offer periods for the Sainsbury’s International Match, will be confirmed in the first week of November.

British Athletics Major Events Director Cherry Alexander has heralded the offer as a way of thanking athletics clubs and volunteers.

“It’s great to see the sport’s grassroots following recognised in this way. The work of clubs up and down the country is integral to the development of athletics and it is important that we reward them; this offer is one way of doing that.

“2015 will be another fantastic year of athletics in this country and I hope that there will be a large number of club athletes and their families taking advantage of this special offer, and maybe even participate in the Club:Connect relays.

“It would be perfect to have the sport supporting these great events and young athletes inspired by watching world class athletes from across the globe at our grand prix meetings and of course the best British athletes at the British Championships.”
