Marlon Devonish (Coventry Godiva) continued his impressive form with victory and a personal best at the Lausanne Super Grand Prix last night. The 31 year old shaved three-hundreths-of-a-second from the PB he achieved at the Athens Grand Prix last week, recording 10.06 in the 100m B race in Switzerland in cold and wet conditions.

Devonish’s performance has moved him to sixth on the UK all-time 100m list and he is now set to face Tyson Gay over both the 100 and 200m on Sunday at the Norwich Union British Grand Prix in Sheffield on Sunday.

Fellow GB team-mate Tyrone Edgar (Woodford Green) made it a British one-two, with his own personal best of 10.13. Nesta Carter of Jamaica was third whilst Mark Lewis-Francis (Birchfield Harriers) came in sixth recording 10.27.

Dwayne Grant (Blackheath & Bromley Harriers)won the C race with a time of 10.39.

Michael Rimmer (Liverpool Pembroke & Sefton) won the 800m B race in 1:47.17, beating off challenges from Dmitriy Bogdanov and Moritz Hoff.

Tim Benjamin (Belgrave Harriers), meanwhile, finished fifth in his 400m race with a time of 46.04, Gary Kikava of DR Congo won in 45.24

Nicola Sanders (Windsor, Slough, Eton & Hounslow) began her comeback from injury in difficult conditions against a strong field with a sixth place in the 400m recording 51.87. The race was won by Novlene Williams in 50.71.

Jemma Simpson (Newquay & Par) matched the fourth position she claimed in the 800m in last Wednesday’s Zagreb Grand Prix, coming through strongly in the last 50 metres to achieve a season’s best of 2:00.19, as Jamaica’s Kenia Sinclair won in 1:59.13.

The final event of the night saw Jamaica, anchored by world record holder Asafa Powell, beat the British quartet of Edgar, Grant, Devonish and Lewis-Francis with the Netherlands third. The Caribbean side won by 0.03sec in with a performance of 38.75sec with the Dutchmen clocking 39.37sec.
