Steve Lewis (Newham & Essex) produced a timely outdoor PB of 5.71m on Tuesday night in Bydgoszcz, Poland with the Aviva UK Championships & Olympic Trials just over a week away.

The 22 year old finished 5th in a high-quality men’s pole vault, by clearing 5.71m at his third attempt and thus beating the Olympic qualifying guideline by 1cm.

It was another good night for the Brits with Phillips Idowu (Belgrave Harriers) continuing his winning streak by taking the men’s triple jump with 17.36m (+1.1m/s).

There was also a fine victory from Marilyn Okoro (Shaftesbury Barnet) in the women’s 800m in 1:59.91, nine-hundredths of a second inside the Olympic A qualifying guideline.
