Brits Hit Paris Peak On Friday Night
18 July 2008
Three British athletes hit peak form in what could prove the most timely fashion at the Meeting Gaz de France at Paris on Friday evening.
With the second wave of Olympic selection announcements taking place on Saturday 19 July, lifetime bests by Steph Twell (Aldershot Farnham and District), Jenny Meadows (Wigan) and Andrew Lemoncello (Fife) could not have come at a more significant moment.
Twell, just 5 days after her World Junior 1500m gold winning performance finished 8th in a high quality 1500m in a PB of 4.05.83, yet another Olympic A standard. Likewise Meadows who missed last weeks trials in Birmingham set a PB in the 800m of 1.59.11 to finish 6th – ahead of the legendary Maria Mutola.
Finally, Andrew Lemoncello ran 8.22.95, inside the Olympic A standard, a PB and 8th position in the quality men’s 3000mSC.
