BRITS PREPARED FOR FIRST PARA ATHLETICS GP OF 2018 SEASON

A number of British athletes will compete at the World Para Athletics Grand Prix in Dubai this week as the season kicks off in earnest.

World champions Georgie Hermitage (coach: Paul MacGregor), Sophie Hahn (Joe McDonnell) and Sophie Kamlish (Rob Ellchuk) are among the entries at the Fazaa GP from 13-16 March.

Hermitage and Hahn will start on day one over 200m, with the latter using the competition as preparation for next month’s Commonwealth Games in the Gold Coast.

Kamlish, goes in the T64 100m later in the week, after opening her season with a personal best over 60m last month, clocking 8.47.

2017 world medallists Jordan Howe (Christian Malcolm) and Andrew Small (Rick Hoskins) go in the T35 100m and 200m, and T33 100m, 200m, 400m and 800m respectively.

Rhys Jones (Malcolm) tunes up for the Commonwealth Games in the T37 100m and 200m, whilst in the field Stephen Miller (Ros Miller) and Vanessa Wallace (Alison O’Riordan) are among those striving for early season form with the Europeans their main focus in August.
