Brits Ready For Euro Combined Events Test

2 July 2015

British Athletics will send an eight-strong team to represent Great Britain & Northern Ireland at the European Cup Combined Events Super League in Aubagne, France on 4-5 July, 2015.

The women’s heptathlon quartet includes 2014 Commonwealth Games bronze medallist Jessica Taylor (coach: Mike Holmes), along with Jessica Tappin (Julie Hollman-Dodoo) who finished 6th behind Taylor in Glasgow, Jo Rowland (Toni Minichiello) and Elise Lovell (Stephen King).

On the men’s team, Ben Gregory (Hollman-Dodoo) and Jack Andrew (Ian Grant) replace Ashley Bryant (Grant) and John Lane (Minichiello) to make up a quartet that also includes Liam Ramsey (Mike Corden) and Martin Brockman (self-coached) who won Commonwealth bronze back in 2010 in Delhi.

The Great Britain & Northern Ireland team will be hoping to improve on their sixth placed finish at last year’s event in Torun, Poland. They face defending champions Russia along with Netherlands, Belarus, Estonia, Czech Republic and Ukraine.

A country’s score will be the sum total of the individual points of each of their athletes. Individual medals will also be awarded to the top three in the men’s and women’s competitions.
