Brussels is the final stop for the 2014 IAAF Diamond League after the series has travelled across the world over the course of the summer. The final meeting will see 16 Diamond Race winners crowned in Belgium, and a host of British athlete looking to end their track seasons on a high.

Eight British athletes will take on the track in Belgium – seven of those returning to action after medal winning displays at the European Championships in Zurich and IPC European Championships in Swansea last month.

European 100m champion James Dasaolu (coach: Steve Fudge) will race against Jamaican Kemar Bailey-Cole who has won at the last two Diamond League meetings, although the 100m at the Sainsbury’s Birmingham Grand Prix was a non-diamond league event. Michael Rodgers, Diamond Race leader in the 100m also goes in that one.

Eilidh Child (Malcolm Arnold) has enjoyed a great season on the Diamond league circuit, but will again face the tough opposition of Kaliese Spencer, who has all but sealed the series victory. European Champion Child will hope to finish her Diamond League campaign off with another strong performance; she currently sits third just one point off a top two finish.

Jodie Williams (Christine Bowmaker) will return to the 200m after setting a 400m personal best at the weekend in Watford. The GB & NI athlete has enjoyed a medal winning summer at both the Commonwealth Games and European Championships, with a brace of medals at each over 200m and in the 4x100m. The 20 year-old will face a world class field in Brussels including Diamond Race leader, Allyson Felix, as well as Commonwealth Games champion Blessing Okagbare of Nigeria.

Lynsey Sharp (Rana Reider) returns to the track after victory in the last Diamond League event at the Sainsbury’s Birmingham Grand Prix. The Scottish athlete will again take on Eunice Sum who she narrowly beat at the Alexander Stadium and will look to go under that magical two minute barrier once more.

William Sharman (Jerzy Maciukiewicz) lines-up for the 110m hurdles after silver success this summer. He will face the all but assured Diamond Race winner, Pascal Martinot-Lagarde, as well as Olympic champion and world record holder, Aries Merritt.

Conrad Williams (Linford Christie) will face Kevin Borlee, the home favourite in the non-Diamond League 400m, and Luke Cutts (Trevor Fox) competes in the pole vault against the soon to be crowned French Diamond Race winner, Renaud Lavillenie.

Mel Nicholls (Job King), fresh from winning silver in the T34 800m and bronze in the 100m at the IPC European Championships last month, will compete in the 400m wheelchair event at the King Baudouin Stadium. This will act as a warm-up for Nicholls as she prepares to make her debut at the Great North Run at the weekend.
