One of the most prestigious meetings on the international athletics calendar will see several members of Team GB in action on Friday. The Memorial Van Damme meet in Brussels, Belgium is the final IAAF Golden League even t of the year and a number of Team GB’s Olympic contenders from Beijing will be in action.

Olympic 400m champion Christine Ohuruogu steps down in distance – as she has done successfully on several occasions this year – to the 200m. Never shy of a challenge, she faces a tough test up against Jamaica’s Olympic 100m silver and bronze medalists Sherone Simpson and Kerron Stewart, amongst others.

The UK’s top male one-lap runner Martyn Rooney sticks to his specialist distance and the Olympic finalist will face a strong field including World Champion and Beijing silver medallist Jeremy Wariner (USA).  Olympic finalists Jeanette Kwayke, Greg Rutherford and Sarah Claxton are also entered for the women’s 100m, men’s long jump and women’s 100m hurdles respectively.

In the endurance events, British interest comes via Mo Farah in the men’s 5000m and Jenny Meadows and Marilyn Okoro in the women’s 800m.
