Calling Clubs & Coaches

3 June 2014

British Athletics, working with England Athletics, Athletics Northern Ireland, Scottish Athletics, and Welsh Athletics, has commissioned Leeds Metropolitan University to undertake research into coaches and coaching provision in clubs

We want to understand from Athletics Clubs the full picture of  athletics coaching in 2014!

  • How many coaches in your club?
  • What types of athletes and disciplines do they coach?
  • Are their development and education needs being met?
  • How might they be best supported?

Please click here to fill in our short survey: http://www.sogosurvey.com/k/RQsXSWsQTsPsPsP

We also want to hear from Coaches who can tell us firsthand:

  • What kind of coaching you do?
  • What do you coach?
  • What are your main coaching problems?
  • How can you be better supported?

Coaches, let us know your opinions now: http://www.sogosurvey.com/k/RQsXSWsQSsPsPsP

British Athletics and partners will use the information to provide the best support possible for coaches and the environments they work in. We hope that you will take this opportunity to help shape the way that British Athletics supports its coaches.

Prize: This project is extremely important to the future development of coaching in athletics.  However, we are also offering the following incentive for completion: First prize: 2 pairs of tickets to 2 sessions at the Commonwealth Games in Glasgow.  Runners up: an England Northern Ireland, Scotland or Wales tracksuit depending on home country. The draw will be made on 30th June 2014.

The final cut-off date for the survey return is 30 June 2014 – but please send in your return straight away.

The results of the research will be used by British Athletics to drive its coaching strategy and allocate funding and improve services to athletics clubs and coaches.

If you have any questions about the research please contact Andi Drake a.drake@leedsmet.ac.uk  or Jamie French j.french@leedsmet.ac.uk
