Channel Four To Show Top Class Athletics Live

 

UK Athletics (UKA) has announced that its 2009 Aviva European Indoor Trials & UK Championships meeting will be televised live on Channel Four.

 

The governing body has confirmed that the partnership with Channel Four now means that all the Major Events in their annual series will have a live TV platform.

 

Scheduled for Saturday 14 and Sunday 15 February at the English Institute of Sport, Sheffield the Aviva European Indoor Trials & UK Championships will feature a number of Britain’s Beijing medallists including Natasha Danvers who will compete in the 800m.

 

Channel Four will show an hour of live action on Saturday 14 and one hour fifteen minutes on Sunday 15. A schedule of highlight programmes will be also be aired across the following week.

 

UK Athletics chief executive Niels de Vos said: “The partnership with Channel Four demonstrates the ongoing popularity of the number one Olympic and Paralympic sport and gives us an outstanding opportunity to extend the reach of athletics. The trials will see Britain’s top athletes compete for national honours and the right to compete for GB & NI at this spring’s European Indoor Championships and will provide viewers with some top quality sporting action."
