Christine Ohuruogu To Compete At Norwich Union Grand Prix In February

10 January 2008

World Championship gold medallist Christine Ohuruogu will make her return to the track at the Norwich Union Grand Prix in Birmingham on 16 February.

The London athlete is set to race over 60m and 200m at the Birmingham NIA in what will be her sole appearance at an indoor international meet this year.

And after warm weather training at the Norwich Union supported UK Athletics training camp, in South Africa, Ohuruogu is looking forward to racing once again in front of the home crowds.

She said: “I don’t normally do a lot of indoor running, but if there is one event you want to do it is the Norwich Union Grand Prix in Birmingham. It’s always the highlight of the indoor season. It will be great to get back to what I do best, competitive running, on February 16.”

Now with the Beijing Olympics only seven months away the Newham & Essex Beagle is focused on continuing her triumph on the track and adding to the World and Commonwealth 400m gold medals she has already claimed – starting with success indoors in Birmingham.

She added: “Training has been going really well for me over the winter and I can’t wait for the season to start. What better motivation could there be than the possibility of an Olympic medal at the end of it?”
