runbritain, the partnership that oversees road running in the UK, today announced that runners across the UK will be able to access rankings from over 60 licensed major events. Runners of all standards can log on to www.runbritain.com to claim their 2010 runbritain ranking position, with more than 60,000 performances for 5k, 10k, half marathon and marathon distances expected to be covered in the coming year.

 runbritain comprises representatives from UKA and the home country governing bodies working with elected members of large and small UK road races, along with co-opted representatives from organisations including London Marathon and BARR. The rankings are compiled by Athletics Data and extend to all finishers in all of the events listed.

runbritain MD, Geoff Wightman said “ There are a range of services to road race organisers that we will be rolling out between now and the end of the year. Our new at-cost online entry system has already been adopted by more than 50 events but it is also important that runbritain delivers a relevant and useful service for every runner out there and these deep rankings are the first step towards that.

“What is so exciting is that any runner of any standard can, if they have taken part in one of the identified events, can get their ranking and runners across the country can start to compete virtually as well as on the road.”
