Some of the world’s best Paralympic athletes will star at the Sainsbury’s Grand Prix – Birmingham, which will host the inaugural IPC Athletics Grand Prix Final on Saturday 29 June.

A number of London 2012 gold medallists including Hannah Cockroft, Jonnie Peacock, David Weir and Richard Whitehead will descend on the Birmingham Alexander Stadium in the last meet of the seven event IPC Grand Prix series, which has seen athletes take to the track and field in Dubai, Sao Paulo, Grosseto, Arizona and Berlin.

The Birmingham Alexander Stadium will host 18 events, and the world’s top six ranked athletes will be invited to compete providing they have competed in at least one IPC Athletics Grand Prix. The two remaining places in each event will be filled by athletes specially invited by IPC Athletics to ensure a top class field.

The schedule for the Sainsbury’s Grand Prix – Birmingham, IPC Athletics Grand Prix Final is as follows:

MEN – T43/44 100m, T42 200m, T43/44 400m, T11/12 800m, T37 800m, T53/54 1500m, T20 1500m, F44 (42) Discus, F31/32/51 Club Throw, F40/41 Javelin

WOMEN – T34/35 100m, T45/46/47 200m, T33/34 200m, T37 400m, T53/54 1500m, T20 1500m, F40/41 Shot Put, F42/43/44 Long Jump

To further explain how athletes are categorised, the table below details the classification process. For example as a single leg below the leg amputee, Paralympic 100m champion Jonnie Peacock runs in the T44 class, while Hannah Cockroft competes in the T34 class, which is wheelchair athletes with cerebral palsy.
