CLEGG SETS SEASON'S BEST AS BRITS CONTINUE TO IMPRESS IN PARIS

Libby Clegg (coach: Joe McDonnell; club: Charnwood) clocked a season’s best time in her first international race since the birth of her son as more Brits impressed on day two of the World Para Athletics Grand Prix in Paris.

In her first international action since the firth of her son Edward and aided by guide Thomas Somers (Benke Blomkvist; Newham & Essex Beagles), Clegg recorded a season’s best time of 28.89s (no wind) for second place in her T11 200m, taking over seven tenths off her previous season’s best.

There was more success on the track as Fabienne Andre (Jenny Archer; Weir Archer Academy) made it back-to-back victories as she wrapped up the 800m in 2:22.10, just outside her PB, with Olivia Gallagher (Jenny Archer; Weir Archer Academy) and Natasha Settelen (Jenny Archer; Weir Archer Academy) home fourth and fifth respectively.

The day began in excellent fashion for the Brits competing as Lydia Church (Jim Edwards; Nene Valley) produced a last-round 11.85m effort in the women’s F11/20/20 shot put for victory, followed by Anna Nicholson (Richard Kaufman; Gateshead) setting a personal best 8.12m for fourth place in the F35-38 event.

Gemma Prescott (Mike Woods; British Wheelchair Athletics Association) produced a 19.27m best effort for second place in the women’s F31/32/51 club throw, continuing her consistent run of form.

Mo Jomni (Jenny Archer; Weir Archer Academy) clocked 52.74s over 400m for third spot in his T52/53/54 race, while Bulbul Hussain (Victoria Park & Tower Hamlets) clocked 43.43s (-0.4), a shade outside his personal best as he came sixth in the men’s T51/52/53 200m.

Jamie Edwards (Jenny Archer; Weir Archer Academy) was the fastest of the British men in T33/34 400m action, clocking 61.09s for fourth place in his race. In the preceding contest, Shaun White (Christine Parsloe; Sutton & District) placed second in 70.26s, followed by teammates James Freeman (Sutton & District) and Hugo Patteson-Knight (Sutton & District)

Edwards continued his good run of form when he took third position in the men’s T33/34 800m final in 1:57.27, placing highest of the British quartet once again. White was just 0.29s outside his PB with a 2:21.51 effort for fifth spot, followed by Freeman and Patteson-Knight in sixth and seventh respectively.
