Multiple global medallist Hannah Cockroft (coach: Jenni Banks) leads the T34 women’s 100m field for the Müller Anniversary Games.

The current world record holder over the 100m has fond memories of the Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park, having won double gold at London 2012 at the tender age of 19. The Halifax racer has been the dominant force in the T34 sprinting class since her emergence on the para sport scene having won seven IPC Athletics World Championship gold medals.

Returning to the scene of her Olympic triumphs, Cockroft has shown signs of the form that helped her break the 100m world record in 2014, posting a season’s best of 17.40 in May.

Dutch rival Amy Siemons won silver behind Cockroft at London 2012 in both the 100m and 200m, and will be hoping to take the victory this time around. Despite being ranked seventh in the world for 2016, Siemons knows she can perform on the world stage having won a total of seven major championship medals. She will be joined by Netherlands compatriot Desiree Vranken in the line-up.

Sixteen year old Alexa Halko from Williamsburg in the United States first made a name for herself at the IPC Grand Prix in Arizona last year, winning a staggering four events. Those wins in the 100m, 200m, 800m and 1500m propelled her on to the world stage. Later the same year she would once again give a glimpse of her natural talent as she won the silver medal in the 100m at the World Championships in Doha.

Two more Britons complete the field for the T34 100m. Double world bronze medallist Kare Adenegan (Job King) is currently ranked third in the world over the 100m distance with a personal best time of 18.82. She is also joined by Carly Tait (Rick Hoskins), ranked sixth in the world over 100m, who has been producing the best form of her life in 2016 which has seen her lower her PB to 19.17 and claim a silver at the IPC Athletics European Championships in Grosseto.
