Colton Joins UKA Board

UK Athletics, (UKA) have appointed Terry Colton to the Board to replace Roger Simons who will step down on 31st March 2009. Colton, the Athletics Competition Manager at the London 2012 Organising Committee (LOCOG), has extensive experience in major athletics event organisation and held the role of Championship Director at the World and European Indoor Championships in 2003 and 2007 respectively.

UKA Chairman Ed Warner commented: “I am delighted to welcome Terry to the UKA Board, his experience in international athletics is outstanding. Along with LOCOG, UKA are committed to delivering the best Olympic athletic experience in London 2012 and this appointment will undoubtedly strengthen our collective ability to do that. I would also like to take this opportunity to thank Roger Simons for his contribution and commitment to the Board. I look forward to his continued involvement on the technical committee and in his other existing roles within UKA and the sport." 

Terry Colton added: “I am relishing the opportunity to play a significant part in the future of UKA and its major events programme and to ensuring a good working relationship with the London 2012 Organising Committee.I would like to thank Ed and the Board for their nomination and wish Roger the very best for the future.”  

Roger Simons who has served on the UKA Board since its inception in 1998 said: “It has been a privilege to play a role on the UKA Board during one of its most exciting periods in history. I believe the sport is now in great shape to deliver success in London and beyond and I wish Terry well in his new capacity. I will continue to stay involved in the sport and remain one of its keenest supporters.”
