2 December 2015

Michael Crawley (coach: Max Coleby) and Michael Kallenberg (James Thie) will represent the British team at the first ever IAU 50km World Championships on Friday 4 December. The two athletes are preparing to make their international debuts over the ultra-running distance in Doha, Qatar.

Crawley and Kallenberg have both enjoyed swift progress in 2015 with Scotland’s Crawley earning a lifetime best of 2:19.39 over the 26.2 mile distance earlier this year. Welshman Kallenberg, who competed for Britain at the World Mountain Running Championships in 2010, posted 2:19.00 at the Manchester Marathon in April and the Cardiff-based athlete will be looking forward to stepping up to the 50km distance.

21 countries will compete in the inaugural championship which gets underway at 15:00 (UK time) and consists of ten consecutive 5km loops

Georgie Bruinvels (Mick Woods) has withdrawn from the team due to injury.
